Are you a seasoned payroll professional ready to lead a large, complex payroll function for a national retail organisation? We’re looking for an experienced Group Payroll Manager to oversee end-to-end payroll operations across multiple locations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.


About the Role:

As the Group Payroll Manager, you’ll lead the payroll function for a workforce spread across the country, managing a high-volume payroll with a focus on continuous improvement, compliance, and employee satisfaction. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact in a dynamic retail environment, working closely with HR and Finance to deliver streamlined and effective payroll solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate payroll for all employees.

  • Lead, mentor, and support the payroll team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

  • Ensure compliance with all payroll-related legislation, including superannuation, tax, workers' compensation, and awards interpretation.

  • Partner with HR and Finance teams to support reporting, reconciliations, and audits.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance payroll processes and system efficiencies.

  • Stay updated on legislative changes and implement necessary updates within payroll systems and policies.


About You:

  • Extensive experience in payroll management, ideally within a high-volume, multi-site environment.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems, compliance requirements, and payroll best practices.

  • Proven leadership skills, with experience managing and developing a payroll team.

  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.

  • Effective communicator, able to work cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and other stakeholders.

  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a focus on process improvement.
